This game is absolutely amazing, but for a specific type of person. The bunnyhopping mechanic is addictive and very rewarding. It’s also really difficult so it feels much more satisfying when done right. This is aimed at 25 – 40 year olds. There has been a huge amount of effort put into nostalgia and we think that it works really well. The cutscenes and smaller details are so well placed and specific. we had a difficult child hood but this game brings back all the memories I had when we was in a playground as a kid. This game explores that feeling and imagination, and creates a game around it. Super Meatboy ++ difficulty. Highly recommend it.
It takes various FPS movement eccentricities folks grew up with (bunny hopping, air strafing, surfing and others) and normalizes them as part of the game. In doing so it makes them more approachable to newcomers and gives the player aural feedback for improving at them in a very intuitive way.
