In the original game, previously released only in Japan, Imperial Princess Excella was an unplayable character, but in the new “Refrain Mode” in Shining Resonance Refrain, both she and Dragonslayer Jinas can be added as party members for a new experience – just be sure to save this for your second playthrough to avoid any spoilers! As an added bonus, all of the extra cosmetic items and side quests are included in this remaster.

Features of Shining Resonance Refrain:

- The sound track is excellent and has a nice range of serious music and lighthearted upbeat tracks.

- Performance is top notch.There are plenty of graphics options and a completely unlocked framerate.

- The story starts off weak, but it picks up the pace after about 5 hours or so. This is not a deeply story heavy and lore heavy JRPG like Trails in the Sky, but for what it is, it’s quite enjoyable. Not every games needs that level of depth to still remain enjoyable.

The characters (yes, even the timid main character) are all fairly enjoyable and have a decent level of depth. Some more than others. The MC does a lot of growing throughout the story and becomes much more sure of himself as time goes by. So far most of the characters have a history or backstory that we didn’t expect.
